Susita Gallops into Sight

Perched on a mountaintop, Susita-Hippos, the city called horse, has been referred to as the most impressive classical city in the Eastern Mediterranean. Yadin Roman explored the city with Professor Arthur Segal and wondered if Hippos is the "city on a hill that cannot be hidden" mentioned in the Sermon on the Mount.

Israel's Classic Car Buffs

The Five Club, the club for collectors of classic cars, motorcycles, and buses in Israel, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. ERETZ Magazine's Heidi J. Gleit learned why Israelis spend countless hours and resources restoring a 1942 World War II vintage BSA motorcycle or a 1959 Sussita pickup truck.

A Natural Solution

A herd of antelopes has been recruited to serve at an ammunition base in the middle of nowhere. Its mission: Weeding and fire prevention. Better and quicker than the average rookie, the Israeli Defense Forces is planning to call up more antelopes for duty.

Her Grandmother's Closet

Hirut Yosef made aliyah from Ethiopia 20 years ago. After finishing her army service, she spent some time illustrating children's books. Then, she decided to follow her real interest: designing clothes. The urge, the designs, and the ideas were planted in her head by her grandmother. Today she is one of Israel's top young designers and works with fashion houses everywhere from Tel Aviv to Istanbul.

A Neighborhood Story

Ohel Moshe is one of the old neighborhoods of Jerusalem that were built outside the city walls at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th. Named after Moses Montifiore, it became home to some of the most important families in Jerusalem, with a special social atmosphere of its own. A few months ago, a mural depicting the founders of Ohel Moshe, and their families, was unveiled in the neighborhood - an occasion for a festive gathering of the hundreds of members of these families. Ofer Kotler and Ya'acov Shkolnik tell the story of Ohel Moshe and the families that lived in the neighborhood.
