METROPOLIS
Tel Aviv and
Florence
The tables and bar
at Rustico, the latest addition to Tel Aviv’s restaurant scene, have
been comfortably full since it opened its doors. A taste of Chef Dino
Sartirani’s creations explains why.
Sartirani, an
experienced Italian chef, teamed up with brothers Ivo and Lior Gvily,
who have worked in Israeli eateries for many years, to open the
restaurant. They serve antipasti, pizzas, pastas, and meat and seafood
entrees made with quality ingredients and great attention to detail.
The décor and the
staff’s attentiveness to guests give Rustico a warm atmosphere. The long
bar borders the open kitchen, allowing guests to chat with Sartirani
about the menu as they decide what to order and watch him and his
colleagues prepare pasta and pull freshly baked focaccia out of the oven
as they sip wine and dig into a generous bowl of pasta and seafood.
Though Rustico’s
menu caters to local tastes, the many Italian diplomats and expatriates,
who recently filled the restaurant for the launching of the Florence
issue of METROPOLIS, all praised Rustico’s genuine Italian cuisine.
Praise also flowed
warmly for METROPOLIS, the ERETZ Group’s Hebrew-language magazine
focusing in each issue on one of the great cities of the world. The
Florence issue includes articles on the city’s history, art, and
cuisine, as well as useful information for visitors.
METROPOLIS Editor Dita
Kohl presents a copy of ERETZ: The Book to Italian Ambassador to Israel
Sandro De Bernardin.
Italian Ambassador
to Israel Sandro De Bernardin thanked METROPOLIS Editor Dita Kohl for
making his job easier by providing Israelis with in-depth information
about Florence in a beautiful format. This is the fifth issue of
METROPOLIS devoted to an Italian city or region, he noted, adding that
he is looking forward to working on the sixth issue, which will
highlight Sicily and will be published next year.
Kohl stated that the
146-page magazine on Florence was the result of a year of meticulous
work and would not have been possible without the assistance of the
embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute. She presented the ambassador
with a copy of ERETZ: The Book to thank him for helping her and
the METROPOLIS staff find experts on Florence who truly know and love
the city. They generously and enthusiastically shared both their
knowledge and their experience, she said.
The next issue of
METROPOLIS will focus on Jerusalem and will also be published in
English, in cooperation with ERETZ Magazine, Kohl reported.
“The Jerusalem issue
will be the greatest challenge for METROPOLIS yet,” she added.
